History of HCMAS
The Hwa Chong Model ASEAN Summit, also known as HCMAS, was first set up in 2007. Since then, it has been a recognized event which receives sponsorship from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs annually. The ASEAN Summit features 10 Southeast Asian Countries, with delegates participatings in 6 committees (Human Rights, Peace and Security, Special, Economics, Environment and Press).
The Model ASEAN Summit aims to breed a group of politically aware students who are articulate with their thoughts and able to analyse multilateral ties and apply the appropriate solutions to solve pertinent issues.
The Model ASEAN Summit also encompasses the real workings of ASEAN. This includes the very much known "ASEAN handshake" by the respective leaders of each nation.
Finally, the Summit will always have a team of driven individuals, forming the Secretariat, who all seek to make this event a fruitful and meaningful one.
