|
Educational policy analysis with a particular focus on restructuring, accountability and quality policy processes in both schooling and higher education sectors. Research since 2000 has focussed on policy in a number of different Australian states, England, Ireland and the OECD in Paris, with time spent collecting data at each of those sites.

Post-Graduate Supervision |
Supervision of postgraduate research (over 30 masters and doctoral students in the last year) covers a wide range of fields including devolution of education management, gender and education, students at educational risk, flexible modes of education delivery, remote teaching, and Aboriginal education

Recent examples include an invitation to take a position as a Governor on the Board of Hale School (Western Australia's oldest boys' school), invitations to address principals' conferences in Western Australia, organising committee for the Australian Association for Research in Education conference in Perth 2001, organisation of the inaugural UWA summer school for Chinese High School (Singapore).

|
A co-authored book (The Politics of Education: Commonwealth Schools Policy 1973-1995), numerous chapters in books published internationally, and articles in international refereed journals such as the prestigious Journal of Education Policy, Higher Education, Compare, International Journal of Educational Development, Educational Theory and Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education.
