Instructions for Students

Dear students,

Dr Yeo Hwee Joo (Deputy Principal/Studies) has already activated the Home Learning exercise. You are expected to show your parents the letter that was attached in the message.

Who's involved in the Online Lessons?
On 1 Mar (Mon) and 2 Mar (Tue), all students (including 3Q) will stay home to do web-based Home Learning.

4Q students will return to school for normal classroom lessons.
4Q students will take instructions from Mr Sung Kah Kee pertaining to administrative details.

All teachers will be attending the Hwa Chong Education Conference. Hence I seek your understanding if the teachers are not able to respond to you immediately during the day.

Timetable and lessons
The link to the timetable is: http://www.hci.sg/itweek

The link also contains the hotline to the IT personnel on duty (7.30 am to 2.00 pm), should you require assistance in technical issues.

Lessons will start from 8.00 am, and end at 2.00 pm daily.

Please do not forget to take breaks in-between the change of subjects.

You are at liberty to start with any subject first.

Your participation in the quizzes, discussion forums, blogs, etc will constitute your attendance in each lesson, as stipulated by your subject teacher.

If you are not able to complete your work within the 1-hour slot, do not worry. You can continue it as homework after 2.00 pm.

Instructions from subject teachers

All instructions from your subject teachers will be posted on the Learning Board by Sunday night. Students are encouraged to read the instructions the night before (or before 7.00 am on the actual day) and bookmark the sites to get ready. This is to avoid the traffic that may build up when too many of you access the school network at the same time.

Where is the Learning Board located?

  • Go to the school website
  • Click on Portal
  • Scroll down
  • On the left, look for SMB-Learning Board (High School)
  • Enter the USERID and PASSWORD the way you would do for the usual SMB log-in

Appeal

Kindly refrain from using the Main Board (EMB) on 1 and 2 Mar morning between the time 8.00 am to 10.00 am. This is to allow the Admin staff to access their messages normally for the day. Computer and Internet access All students are strongly encouraged to stay home to do your web-based Home Learning. If you have difficulty getting access to a computer or internet, you may carry out your Learning at your relative's or friend's or neighbour's place.

As a last resort, you may also do one of the following:

use the computer in our School Computer Lab1. An IT personnel will be on duty to attend to you

loan out a laptop in our School Library for the day, and carry out your Learning in the library

Malay as Third Language

Lesson will still go on. Please take instructions from your respective teacher.

I hope I have covered what is necessary for you to know, so that you will be able to carry out your Home Learning effectively.

May you find extreme JOY in your learning.

Thank you

Mr Steven Su
